Meriden School, a long-standing institution for girls’ education, has just opened its new Greenhalgh Centre for Music and Drama. Named after Principal Dr. Julie Greenhalgh, this building is a big deal for the school as it celebrates 125 years of teaching girls and young women. The State of the Art centre, designed by AJ + C Architects and built by Buildcorp, came about because Meriden’s music programs have been doing so well, attracting top young musicians from all over. There’s a room for composing with special software, a recording studio, a cozy recital room, and a big space for whole ensembles to practice. They’ve even got a theatre for drama and musicals. One of the features is a set of 64 seats in the theatre that can be pulled out or pushed back, making the space super flexible for different kinds of performances. This adaptability allows the school to host a range of events, from intimate recitals to larger ensemble shows, all in the same venue.
