Good News Lutheran College

The Good News Lutheran College Junior School building is a striking new two-storey facility that embodies the College’s commitment to providing a versatile and inspiring learning environment. Central to this vision is the flexible-use performance space, featuring a state-of-the-art retractable seating system with 153 seats. This seating arrangement allows the space to effortlessly transform from a classroom setting to a performance venue, accommodating various events and activities with ease.

The interior design of the Junior School building emphasizes the use of natural materials, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Extensive plywood lining and feature Spotted Gum battens adorn the staircases and void balustrades, adding a touch of natural elegance. Strategically placed voids throughout the building not only enhance the sense of space but also flood the interior with natural light, further enriching the learning environment.

Positioned at the corner of the site, the Junior School building stands as the most prominently placed structure on the campus. Its design takes full advantage of the extended street frontage along Caraleena Drive, exploring the interplay of positive and negative forms to create a dynamic and visually engaging presence.

The building’s exterior features a combination of metal cladding, pre-finished CFC, and brickwork, culminating in a striking two-storey toffee apple red glazed brick wall that fronts the College car park. This bold design element reinforces the building’s strong street presence, making it a landmark within the College and the surrounding community.
